FAQ

What does the BeProducer platform have to offer?

BeProducer has created a new way for viewers to interact with media content producers.

Our mission is to offer viewers the chance to become producers, invest in large media projects on a par with the state and professional investment companies, receive income and even become a direct part of the entertainment industry.

Viewers can now become part of their favourite film or other beloved media project.

As the platform develops further, users will be able to invest (in RUB, USD and cryptocurrencies), take part in the development of media projects that they take a liking to, witness decision-making moments, have an impact on the project’s development and the final finish, in addition to the right to receive part of the income from productions along with their creators. This is what makes our platform users producers.

BeProducer is not only an investment platform, but also a trading platform and analytical portal to monetise visual content.

As a unique resource, BeProducer equips users with exclusive analytical information, regular news updates and expert opinions about each of the projects on offer. Our priority is to offer producers (investors) a wide range of projects which are guaranteed to make it to the big screen and are promising in terms of how much they will gross.

Concurrently, producers (investors) independently decide on which project they choose and plan to participate in, whilst the platform also offers them analytical information to make an informed decision. BeProducer does not take responsibility for producer (investor) choice of film or other project which is not able to meet expectations, for example, in terms of revenue. Moreover, BeProducer will do everything it can legally in its relations with film companies to make sure that filming is completed and the movie is released to audiences.

How does the platform work?

1. The production (film) company applies to sell part of their revenue rights for future projects (films, animations, TV series, theatre performances). on the BeProducer platform.

2. BeProducer checks that there is a script, financial resources, agreements with the film crew and actors, and also assesses the prospective revenue (ticket sales and other) of projects.

3. The production (film) company and BeProducer platform sign an agreement for part of the rights to revenue from the works created.

4. BeProducer places these rights on its platform for sale to potential producers (investors). All the projects come with a description, analytical material (including revenue forecasts), and also news about how the project is progressing.

5. Purchase of the rights becomes available, with funds raised going towards completion of the project. The sale of rights will last for between one and three months.

6. The producer (investor) selects the project for them and invests in it. In return for their investment, the producers receive tokens for the film, tokens which are a digital form of partial rights to revenue from the specified film. If the funds needed to launch the project are not raised, they are returned to users.

7. Following the completion of a successful fundraising campaign, the funds are given to the production (film) company to create the project.

8. The production (film) company completes the project (film). During the production process, producers (investors) receive exclusive news from the film set, and some of the producers (investors) have the chance to be part of the production (filming) process.

9. The film is released to wider audiences and the producers (investors) can track ticket sales from their corresponding project online. They can also calculate how much they stand to gain.

10. Following screenings, token holders receive a payout proportional to the amount of tokens they hold.

As such, the production companies sell rights to a share of future revenue from the production (film) to producers (investors). When the film starts to bring in revenue, these funds are distributed amongst producers in accordance with the size (share) of their participation. The BeProducer platform takes care of the technical and legal aspects of the processes outlined above.

Who can put their film projects on the platform?

Any user (screenwriter, director, producer or film company representative) can apply to have their project on our platform. Following accreditation of their project, it will be put up on the platform. The site administration will make sure that projects have:

  • a finished and complete script;

  • financing already secured amounting to no less than 50% of the project budget;

  • contractual agreements with the film crew and actors.

All of the requirements indicated are connected to how BeProducer aims to ensure the successful realisation of the projects placed on the platform and the professionalism we expect.

Which film companies can work with BeProducer?

Any film company which has gone through the authorisation process on our platform can work with us.

Film companies apply to take part, indicating data which we will use to define the level of professionalism from the applicant and project. If the project has 50% of the budget, a synopsis, actors, directors and film crew in place, a member of our team will contact the applicant to discuss the organisational stages that need to be completed to place the project on the platform.

Can films which gross less than 1,000,000 RUB be part of the platform?

Of course. The main criteria for acceptance is a finished script, 50% of the budget, actors and a film crew already in place.

Will BeProducer hold its own ICO?

BeProducer will not and does not plan to hold an ICO to finance the operating and marketing of the platform, or to bring in stars for promotion. The company has already secured financing through traditional methods: from professional investors and well-known investment funds. Blockchain is used by the project to simplify and increase the transparency of investor-production (film) company interaction.

What size of the total production budget will the platform raise for projects?

Currently, 10-50% of the total production budget can be raised.

What is the platform’s target audience and how does the marketing strategy work?

The target audience is anyone that loves film, theatre, musicals, serials and wants to take on an active role in the creative process of their production. We want to give the viewer the opportunity to be part of the closed world of the entertainment industry through production (investment).

Who ensures the protection of user participation in the project?

  • Before projects appear on the platform, BeProducer signs an agreement with film companies (rights holders). In accordance with these agreements, a fixed part of the project’s (film’s) revenue will be distributed proportionally to the participation in the project (film).

  • The process of distributing funds received by the film company takes place using blockchain. This ensures maximum protection for producers (investors) and money flow transparency. Producers (investors) receive tokens (which are the digital equivalent of rights to the project’s revenue) proportionally to their participation in the project. All of the funds received from the film company are directed automatically to be held via the project’s (film’s) smart contract (a computer algorithm for creating and executing agreements in commerce using blockchain). Following this, only the investor (producer) - the token holder - can take their share from the revenue, proportional to the amount of tokens they hold. Neither the film company, nor BeProducer can interfere in this process. All operations are accessible and visible in an open environment, whilst their validity and integrity is assured by the decentralised system that is blockchain.

  • Any producer (investor) can check the film ticket sales online via an open resource, in addition to within their own personal profile page (which will be accessible from the moment of investment), and compare with those funds from the film company. As such, users can rest assured that they receive all the funds they are due from projects.

What is a smart contract?

Technologically, a smart contract is a computer algorithm in a blockchain environment. They allow for agreements to be made, supported and automatically executed in accordance with preset conditions.

As part of the BeProducer platform, one can consider smart contracts as projects set to gather investment and execute the subsequent payout to coproducers.

How is transparency and security ensured? How will you protect investors legally?

Here two points should be made.

The first is blockchain. As soon as a company transfers money to the virtual wallet, no-one can influence its movement; only investors will automatically receive their share proportionate to the amount of tokens they hold.

This part of the process is transparent and absolutely secure. After the producer has transferred funds to this wallet, a straightforward legal process begins:

  • We will draw up contracts outlining the risks, using standard form investment contracts as they are the most reliable option as legal practice in the digital rights environment has shown.

  • We conclude two contracts with each party, thereby becoming an intermediary between the co-producers and the companies. It goes without saying, the contracts will outline all revenues.

When will payment be received in accordance with the tokens held?

Revenue distribution between producers (investors) begins immediately after funds are received from the film company and credited to producers (investors) via the corresponding smart contract for the project (film).

In accordance with the agreement, the film company will credit funds as revenue from the project (film) comes in.

Usually film companies receive their share of funds from ticket sales within 3 months of screening in Russia.

Can I sell or give my tokens away?

Yes. Tokens can be sold or given to any user who has a wallet which supports ERC-20 standard tokens. Moreover, BeProducer plans to launch a user-friendly and transparent token exchange, on which users can sell their tokens at any stage of the project.

What will happen if the film doesn’t raise the necessary amount of funds?

If the project (film) doesn’t raise the minimum investment amount, at the end of the fundraising period all of the funds will be returned to investors.

How can one know for sure about projects’ revenue from ticket sales? How is the validity of the data ensured?

You can see the ticket sales revenues for films at IMDb (https://www.imdb.com) or EAIS (http://ekinobilet.fond-kino.ru)

Information about film ticket revenues is available for BeProducer users, visible on the platform page for the project or within the user’s profile page. The share of returns that shall be distributed to you personally can also be seen on your profile page.

You can also see other sources of revenue for films (TV screenings, international and digital sales, etc.) on the user profile page. You can check the validity of the revenue data only after the release of official accounting reports by the film companies. All additional revenue sources are displayed in this accounting report.

What are producer privileges and how can I take advantage of them?

Producer (investor) privileges are a reward system for actions or investments on the platform.

These privileges do not only make up a user’s overall rating, but can also be exchanged for a whole range of material and nonmaterial bonuses: from various goods (movie props, special merchandise, etc.), to unique opportunities such as visiting the set during filming, meeting the actors and even having your name featuring in the project’s credits as a producer!

Can I buy privileges?

No. Privileges cannot be bought on the BeProducer platform. You can receive them only by being active on the platform, investing in projects or from them being distributed at random amongst participants.

Does BeProducer plan to expand the project worldwide or will it just be focussed on certain regions?

BeProducer is an international project registered in the European Union.

As a pilot for the project, Russian film Attraction 2 was chosen. This decision is linked to the fact that the film is a sequel to one of the most commercially successful films in Russian cinematic history, with: screenings taking place internationally; financing of the project being fully secured; a successful set of actors and film crew. This guarantees that the project will come to fruition and be screened in front of a wide audience. BeProducer was given the opportunity to take part in the production of Attraction 2 as a pilot project due to the openness of the film’s creators (Art Pictures) to new technologies and new forms of film production.

The project’s target audience is an international one and there are already provisional agreements in place with film companies throughout Europe, Asia and the US.
